authentic personal relationship with Him through the use of our facilities,
financial resources and dedicated staff and volunteers."
After being founded in 2001, Stoney Creek Ranch
fulfilled its original purpose, providing a top-notch space for churches,
school groups, and other organizations from the greater Houston area to host
retreats throughout the year. Our then four-cabin facility was booked nearly
every weekend by these rental groups who paid to reserve the camp and run their
However in 2007, the trajectory of Stoney Creek
Ranch’s mission took a turn when we hosted a small urban group called
Generation One. Once we saw the hunger for faith on the faces of these kids, we
knew that God had allowed Stoney Creek Ranch to come into being so that waves
of youth in poverty could be emotionally and spiritually nourished at a camp
that was affordable and close to home. Thus, the Summer Urban Initiative was
born, and we began fundraising so that additional organizations ministering to
underprivileged kids could attend camp at a low cost, too.
Our passion is to work with organizations that target urban youth,
who rarely experience the beauty of God’s creation through a life-changing
camping adventure in the great outdoors.
